Funny Picture

My baby girl woke up early with me on Thanksgiving day to cook dinner so by noon she was exhausted :). I gave her some grapes and sat her down and after a few minutes I checked on her and this is what I found.........................

I (heart) the holidays!

This is my favorite time of the year, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. People change during the holidays, have you noticed? Everyone seems to be nicer and more giving, why cant they be like that all the time??? I also love this season because all of our birthdays are between September and February, and we celebrate at least 1 a month which is always fun. I remember spending Christmas in Mexico when I was a kid and loved it, a little different than here in the U.S (more commercialized) but also great! I love that I can enjoy and embrace the traditions of both cultures, and celebrate them full of laughter and joy with my family and friends. This holiday season I don't want gifts, money or material things (and this is really hard for me!), all I am going to ask for is for my family to be healthy happy and together wherever that may be............ I like this old spanish saying "Que sea lo que dios quiera", my mom used to always say that when she was worried or things werent going as she had planned, you know, just leave it in God's hands, thats how I feel about our future!

My thoughts for today...

Every once in a while I sit and contemplate my life, where I am and where I would like to be, the key word being "like" since we truly never know whats in store. I feel so stagnant right now, cant really make any future plans or goals and for a Virgo, unorganization and the unknown are the worst! I have to really focus on this moment in my life, my children and my husband, they help me focus on the true meaning of life and what my true goals are: Keeping my family together, healthy, happy and keeping our faith. I tend to forget with all the problems and stresses I have in life, that I am truly blessed to have wonderful children that are healthy and happy, and a husband who I share a love with that words cannot even describe, and then I feel a sense of calmness unfold and I realize that everything will be ok.

Change of Season

Ahhhh.... Havent been on in a while, summer is hot, and hectic here in Vegas and I love it, BUT not as much as I love the fall! For some reason I feel nostalgic when I think of fall and the holiday season??? What signifies the beginnig of fall for me is usually when the kids go back to school in late August, time seems to fly and before I know it, the holiday's begin with Labor Day. My favorite month is September, of course because its my birthday month and I LOVE to celebrate! This year is going to be special because my husband and I will be taking a "staycation", we are getting a hotel for the weekend on the strip and will be eating out and watching shows and all the other good stuff you do in a hotel room ;) We have never had a vacation without the kids so even though we are in town, I am worried that the little ones wont sleep or that my sister who is going to babysit wont know how to calm them down, I just hope we can enjoy this alone time because we really need it!

Life has been hectic!

I havent posted in a while, just really busy with, well.... life! I took everyones advice and have decided to not sit and sulk in my misery (ok, its not that bad but you get the picture right?) and enjoy the rest of the time I have left here. I cant wait to go back for another visit before we move, hoping the end of this month or beginning of next, we will see how soon the consulate here can get us the paperwork we need. On another note, I am finally a Mexican citizen YAY!!!!! I will be picking up my official birth certificate on the 28th of this month, so excited to know that I will be able to look for work when we get down there.

First Communion

My babies had their first communion yesterday and we couldn't be happier! After two long years of classroom instruction we were thrilled to know they had passed their exams with flying colors. We also got lucky that we went to Mexico a couple weeks back and were able to purchase their dresses in downtown Guadalajara for a fraction of what they cost here in the U.S. My baby girls are growing so quickly, soon we will be preparing for their Confirmation and Quinceaneras!

Lunch in Teochitlan

I hope thats how you spell it. We ended up being there for the birthday of on of my comadre's sisters and so we decided to invite the family out for a birthday lunch and someone suggested Teochitlan. This is a small fishing town with a nice lake surrounded by tons of seafood restaurants. They had a nice water play area for the kids that was a hit, it was so serene, cool and calm, we had a great lunch! Here are some pictures but again, they dont do the place any justice, my camera was acting up and I wasn't able to get a flash, they look dark but you get the idea. My lil guy was loving his hot dog and I included a pic of my plate which im not sure what it was called but I do know it is a heart attack in the making!

Town Plaza

Since I hadn't been to Mexico in a while and all you hear in the U.S is how dirty everything is, I was imagining that everything in the town was filthy and falling apart but to my surprise the plaza and church were just as clean and beautiful as the park. I added the last pics that include my girls hair, getting their hair done every other day was one of the highlights of the trip for them!

Scenic Views

I have always loved the country and consider myself a country girl so when we actually move to Mexico, I want to live in the country or Pueblo. Luckily, the town my father was from is perfect distance from beaches and Guadalajara so you have the best of both worlds. The town is small and you can easily walk from one end to the other in 1-2hours so we walk everywhere when we are there, no need for a car. We went to the "unidad deportiva" while there and it is at the outskirts of the town and the scenery was beautiful and reminded me of why I love it there. The park was very neat and clean and well maintained too. I'm not that good at taking pictures so you cant really appreciate how nice it is.

Bull Riding

When I was little I used to love to go watch the bull riding, it used to start with the "mojiganga"(people dressed in funny costumes acting stupid) and the banda walking through the town towards the location. Once we got to the place, there were food vendors of every kind, the banda playing and people dancing, it was one of my favorite things to do so I wanted to make sure my kids were able to experience it. It was a hit, they loved it, my lil guy the most as you can see in the pictures below.
